From Vague Vision to Clear Platform Strategy

Who They Are & Why This Moment Mattered

A growing InsurTech company served carriers with a suite of tools for underwriting, policy management, and customer experience. They had strong relationships, domain expertise, and early traction - but they lacked a cohesive product strategy. Internally, different leaders held different visions of what the platform should become. Externally, their marketing website didn't clearly communicate value to carriers or reflect the maturity of the offering.

As the company prepared for its next stage of growth, leadership realized they needed clarity. They needed a unified product narrative, a shared future roadmap, and a website that accurately represented who they were becoming.

The Real Problem & What Was at Stake

The initial request was to help take a loosely defined product idea and turn it into a clear set of concepts. But the deeper challenges were structural:

  • •No unified vision for the platform
  • •Confusion about which problems they were solving and for whom
  • •A marketing website that didn't match buyer expectations
  • •Lack of clarity around the most compelling use cases for carriers
  • •Difficulty articulating differentiation in a crowded market

Without alignment and a strong digital presence, they risked stalled growth, slower sales cycles, and internal teams pulling in different directions.

Constraints & Starting Point

We entered with specific constraints:

  • •A six-week timeline to develop a product strategy and concept designs
  • •A second phase to redesign and rebuild the marketing website
  • •Limited internal product documentation
  • •Multiple stakeholders with differing views
  • •A need to create something concrete enough to socialize internally and with customers

How We Approached It

We approached the engagement as a strategy and storytelling sprint. A small team worked closely with leadership to clarify the product's purpose, identify high-impact use cases, and turn a nebulous idea into a coherent platform narrative.

AI accelerated the synthesis of stakeholder insights, competitor analysis, and early concept exploration. Human effort focused on refining the strategy, aligning stakeholders, and designing experiences that matched real carrier workflows.

Once the product vision was defined, we moved into the second phase: rebuilding the marketing website to reflect that vision and strengthen the company's go-to-market efforts.

What We Did

1

Conduct Rapid Research Across Stakeholders and Users

We ran a condensed research process with internal leaders, product team members, and carrier-facing staff. We asked what problems they heard most, where workflows broke down, what competitors lacked, and what opportunities they felt were untapped. This surfaced the core pain points the platform needed to address.

2

Define the Platform Strategy and Future Vision

We synthesized findings and created a clear strategy that included the core value proposition, key workflows and use cases, what the platform would (and would not) solve, and how the solution could evolve over time. This created alignment across leadership and clarified what mattered most for customers.

3

Design the Conceptual Platform Experience

We designed conceptual flows that illustrated the future platform: policy lifecycle workflows, underwriting collaboration, customer-facing experiences, and intelligent automation opportunities. These concepts helped leadership visualize the product and communicate it clearly internally and externally.

4

Redesign, Build, and Launch the Marketing Website

We rewrote positioning and messaging to speak directly to carriers, designed a new website aligned to the updated strategy, built the site with modern UX, clear CTAs, and CRM-integrated lead flows, and introduced lead magnets and nurture sequences to improve conversions. The new website reflected the company's maturity.

5

Enable the Team with a Cohesive Story and Tools

We provided a unified narrative, design assets, and frameworks the company could use in sales, onboarding, and future product planning. This helped ensure the work lived beyond the initial engagement.

The Outcome

Before

A loosely defined product vision, unclear external messaging, inconsistent internal alignment, and a marketing website that didn't resonate with carriers.

After

A cohesive platform strategy supported by clear value propositions and use cases, conceptual product designs that anchored the roadmap, a redesigned website tailored to B2B buyers, a stronger brand narrative, and improved lead generation through integrated CRM flows. The company gained clarity and a unified foundation for growth.

What Changed Inside the Organization

The engagement brought leadership into alignment around the product's future and clarified what success should look like. Product, marketing, and sales teams gained a shared language for describing the platform. The new website provided a more professional, credible digital front door. Most importantly, the company gained the confidence to move forward with a consistent strategy.

Why This Story Matters

Many growing SaaS and InsurTech companies reach a stage where internal intuition isn't enough. They need clarity, coherence, and a narrative that ties together product, strategy, and go-to-market. This project shows how a focused strategy and design sprint can transform ambiguity into alignment, and how a strong digital presence can accelerate credibility, trust, and customer acquisition.
